POSITION SUMMARY The position will manage the refinery’s reliability engineering function. Leads, develops and executes the refinery’s “Reliability Strategy” to include development of tactics to close gaps in reliability performance. Supports achievement of reliability improvements through leadership for people, processes, and tools contributing to reliable refinery operations. Coordinates operational, technical, mechanical and electrical engineering functions supporting continuous reliable refinery performance. Manages reliability-associated activities to drive and support operational excellence such as proactive and preventive maintenance programs, field support, and mentoring of operations and maintenance personnel. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS • 10+ years reliability engineering experience in the petrochemical industry required. • Must relate well to and effectively influence others within and across functions through communication and collaboration. • Demonstrates understanding of business and how actions contribute to company performance. • Must be able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. • Must be safety and environmentally sensitive. • Proficient with MS Office Suite and SAP. MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES • Manages refinery’s reliability engineering function encompassing equipment surveillance, troubleshooting, root cause failure analysis, project support and equipment modifications. Ensures compliance with established engineering standards and industry codes. • Supervises reliability engineering studies including bad actors and repeat failures. Oversees reporting and analysis of reliability metrics to identify trends in equipment reliability. Leads development and implementation of action plans for continuous improvement. Participates in reliability or equipment-related incident investigations. • Institutes Reliability Centered Maintenance preventive/predictive maintenance schedules, procedures and programs. Promotes proactive maintenance focus and long range commitment to reliability. • Provides technical leadership for design and execution of new and/or modified reliability projects. Provides capital project support. • Maintains reliability database capturing performance data, repair histories, etc. Develops tools and files to capture equipment data. Keep the files and data evergreen. • Works within Maintenance and with other departments such as Training, Operations and Procurement to ensure our reliability program is a refinery-wide program. This may include assistance with craft training, operator training, operator driven reliability, and spare parts. • Develops reliability portion of Technical Services budget. Exercises financial stewardship to control expenditures. • Manages staff of Engineers. Ensures personnel are trained to successfully perform job duties. Initiates selection, promotion and corrective actions when appropriate; accountable for fair and uniform application of human resources policies. WORK ENVIRONMENT Full-time Works 9 hour shifts, on a 9/80 schedule. Safety glasses, earplugs, gloves, steel-toed shoes, hard hats, Nomex, and respirator used when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
