Manager Marine Operations
HI - Bishop
Position Summary
Provides marine technical expertise and support to Hawaii-based operations, including 94,000 bpd refinery and inter-island product distribution system. Responsible for all aspects of Single Point Mooring (“SPM”) maintenance and operations; oversees marine operations, including marine terminal, vessel loadings and discharges, chartered vessels movements and contractor operations. Ensure all marine activities are conducted in a safe, environmentally-sound manner, in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Education Requirement
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited maritime college
Experience Requirement
- Ten years of experience in tanker operations with minimum three years of experience as Chief Mate and/ or Master.
- U.S. Coast Guard Unlimited Masters License.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively influence others through communication and collaboration.
- Demonstrated understanding of business and how actions contribute to company performance.
- Experience managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite.
Major Accountabilities
- Manages Hawaii SPM Terminal operations.
- Align and manage operations in accordance with the company’s expectations for safety, regulatory compliance, reliability and efficiency.
- Ensure risks associated with SPM activities are appropriately managed.
- Ensure adoption of and adherence to maritime industry standards for operation of the SPM terminal.
- Establish and maintain SPM operational procedures.
- Together with SPM Superintendent, oversee the SPM maintenance program and contractors.
- Plan, review and approve repairs and capital expenditures.
- Manages team of 8, including 4 Mooring Master/Pilots, 1 Maintenance Supervisor, 3 Marine Sales and Scheduling staff.
- Together with Mooring Masters, and head office chartering manager, reviews and recommends approval and/or rejection of all tankers and barges in advance of calling at Hawaii terminals.
- Manages relationships and performance of contractors providing services, including tug and barge operators.
- Represents Par Hawaii in Hawaii marine industry forums.
- Functions as key member of the Incident Command System Team.
- Maintains working relationships with U.S. Coast Guard and appropriate State of Hawaii agencies.
