The Requirements
To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the Regional Area Manager opportunity, you will have:- A High school diploma or GED.
- 2 years of college and/or related combined experience is required. A bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or other related field is preferred.
- 3+ three years of convenience store or other retail experience, including:
- At least 1 year as a manager or assistant manager.
- Some restaurant/food service experience.
- Experience providing leadership to teams of at least 60, and a positive, encouraging leadership style.
- Management experience in travel centers is a strong plus.
- A demonstrated ability to work independently and remotely from a supervisor.
- Proficiency with general computer applications, such as POS systems and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication skills including written, oral and formal presentations.
The Role
Reporting to the VP, Pacific Northwest Retail, you will join a team that includes three other Regional Area Managers. Reporting directly to you will be eight Zip Trip Store Managers and two Taco John's Restaurant Managers.You will be responsible for the safe and profitable operation of your assigned Company-owned C-store retail sites. - Maximizing profits and providing a profitable return on invested capital by following the Company’s procedures, philosophies and values on a daily basis.
- Supervising, developing and coaching Store Managers, who carry out the day-to-day operations of their respective sites.
- Ensuring Store Managers are following Company procedures and managing their staff within accepted guidelines and that each store is positioned to meet both current and future expectations.
- Safety, environment and security/risk management.
- Market intelligence.
- Customer service.
- Store appearance.
- Mechanizing, promotions and special events.
- Ensuring routine maintenance is performed; you may perform some tasks yourself.
- Vendor/contractor management.
- Supporting capital investment decisions.
- Staffing.
- Ensuring open communication with Store Managers and staff.

Keys to Success
Pivotal to your success will be your ability to assume ownership of your regional area and work independently. We'll provide training and onboarding, of course, but The VP is located in Spokane. Help always will be just a phone call away, but the more you are able to manage autonomously, the bigger your impact will be.This regional area is somewhat different from the others because of the two Taco John restaurants -- in each case, you'll essentially oversee two businesses under one roof. Add to that the fact that one of these locations is also a travel center, and you can look forward to showcasing your ability to master diverse challenges.
We'll look to you to clarify expectations and hold people accountable; in fact, we use SMART goals and metrics -- specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely performance. At the same time, a heavy-handed approach is not consistent with our culture.
