The Requirements

To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the Reliability Electrical/Instrumentation Engineer opportunity, you will have:

  • Experience as an electrical and/or instrumentation engineer in an industrial setting, preferably in refineries.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD is a plus.
  • SAP knowledge that includes the ability to create work orders from notifications is desired.
  • Design/installation experience in a refinery or manufacturing environment is desired.
  • Specific experience with Foxboro IA DCS, PLC controls, pneumatic/electronic I/O devices, UPS systems and VFD controls is preferred.

The Role

Reporting to the Superintendent, Reliability, you will join a team that includes several other Engineers as well as Technicians. You'll work in one of two refineries, which are about five to ten minutes apart.

In this role, you'll make recommendations to improve the reliability of refinery electrical/instrumentation systems. You'll be responsible for a variety of projects and assignments, including maintenance and upgrading of refinery electrical/instruments systems, design engineering and troubleshooting.

You'll invest the majority of your time in:
  • Identifying bad actors, conducting root cause analyses, and implementing solutions. Quick question for you - click here
  • Supporting Technicians in troubleshooting issues they have escalated to you.
  • Contributing to improvement projects.
  • Helping develop and monitor preventative maintenance programs, including identifying potential issues, submitting work orders, etc.
More specific responsibilities will include:
  • Providing specifications and installation guidelines for electrical/instruments systems.
  • Providing technical leadership to others in the field of electrical/instrumentation.
  • Conducting troubleshooting of refinery-wide electrical/instrumentation systems.
  • Using computer-assisted software (AutoCAD) to create/update drawings.
  • Providing support/quality assurance for ongoing projects.
  • Coordinating plant efforts in reviewing breakdowns and failures with the intention of eliminating root causes of the failures, increasing the on-stream plant reliability and reducing costs.
  • Assisting with new P&ID development and updating as-built P&IDs to reflect field changes.
  • Providing technical support to the maintenance department, including supervision of electrical/instrumentation checks prior to system commissioning.
