The Requirements
To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the Instrumentation and Analyzer Engineer opportunity, you will have:- A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in instrumentation or analyzers preferred.
- Familiarization with refinery processes; design/installation experience in a refinery or manufacturing environment is desired.
- Specific experience with Bailey INFI-90 DCS, PLC controls, pneumatic/electronic I/O devices, UPS systems and VFD controls, analyzers.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work effectively with others at all levels and functional areas of the refinery.
- Availability to work during off-hours, especially for emergencies and turnarounds.
The Role
Joining a team that includes several other Engineers as well as Technicians, you'll work in one of two refineries, which are about five to ten minutes apart. In the role you will provide instrumentation technical assistance to refinery Operations, Maintenance and Technical Departments. You'll be responsible for a variety of projects and assignments including maintenance, reliability, safety, design, engineering, troubleshooting, tuning and upgrading of refinery control systems, instrumentation and analyzers.More specifically, you will:
- Provide specifications and installation guidelines for instruments, instrument systems and analyzers.
- Provide technical leadership to others in the field of instrumentation and analyzers.
- Perform control valve sizing calculations; you'll also be responsible for sizing and selection of orifice plates and other flow measurement devices.
- Conduct troubleshooting of refinery-wide instrumentation systems.
- Assist in a continuous improvement process by identifying new information and control applications that enhance profitability and reliability.
- Assume responsibility for control loop tuning and control optimization.
- Assist with P&ID development and updating (as-built P&IDs) to reflect field changes.
- Provide technical support to the maintenance department as needed, including supervising instrumentation loop checks prior to system commissioning and troubleshooting instrument and analyzer issues.
- Develop and maintain standardized specifications for instrument selection and installation.
- Provide primary review of vendor/contractor instrumentation design to ensure compliance with refinery specifications and applicable safety codes.
- Assist in training of maintenance and operations personnel.
- Handle other duties as assigned.
