SUMMARY
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for assisting the Facilities Manager and Lead Maintenance Technician with the overall day-to-day maintenance and repair of Par Hawaii Retail’s branded stores, to ensure maximum operational performance. Duties include maintenance and repair of the consumer fueling areas and convenience stores, by performing overall equipment, building, and property maintenance, troubleshooting and repair. Duties may also include general custodial, and grounds keeping tasks. The Maintenance Technician must have demonstrated mechanical skills, with experience in some or all of the following areas, such as construction, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, food service equipment, point-of-sale equipment, and instrumentation/electronics/computers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responds to work orders dispatched by our maintenance call center.
- Initial trouble-shoot equipment described in maintenance work order.
- Repairs/replaces equipment’s components, as determined necessary.
- General repair of building components, such as door locks, handles, or hinges.
- Assesses other issues as requested and reports back to Facilities Manager.
- Support Retail Safety Programs.
Other Functions
Perform other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 2 years prior experience in maintenance field required.
- Any certification in technical or mechanical training will be considered Experience in retail operations preferred.
- Gilbarco Dispenser Fueling Certification (Yearly Certification)
- Hawaii valid Driver’s License and the ability to drive company-controlled vehicles required.
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in working in retail petroleum fueling areas preferred.
- Ability to communicate in English (orally and in writing), including proficient telephone communication skills.
- Ability to work various shifts as scheduled, and arrives on time.
- Ability to work with equipment, tools and materials as required.
- Basic skills on Microsoft office and Excel a plus.
- Ability to perform essential duties and work in the conditions as described
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand and/or walk for an entire shift.
- Ability to lift items of 50 lbs. or more.
- Ability to climb ladders to work on rooftops.
- Ability to see with 20/40 vision (corrective lenses acceptable) in order to see various information to insure that equipment and grounds, such as gas pumps are in proper operation, and problems that may occur with gas pumps.
- Ability to hear (hearing aids acceptable) to be able to communicate with internal and external individuals, and for safety purposes.
- Frequent reaching overhead, gripping, wrist movement, and finger dexterity required to, but not limited to, checking/operating gas pumps, cleaning pumps/equipment, maintaining station facilities.
- Frequent squatting and kneeling required.
- Ability to push/pull with arms up to a force of 20 pounds.
- Ability to climb a ladder.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Ability to work 40 hours per week plus necessary overtime.
- Ability to respond to call-outs, after-hours (evenings/weekends/holidays)
- Constant awareness of Par Hawaii Retail’s safety and environmental policies and procedures for self and others.
- Exposed to gas fumes and solvents, and occasional noise.
- Non-smoking and drug-free environment.
- Travel 20% to neighboring islands in Hawaii.
