The Requirements
The ideal candidate for this role will have well-rounded HR experience with expertise in payroll and HRIS.To be a strong fit for the HR Operations Manager opportunity, you will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Management, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of experience in payroll and HR Shared Services/HR Operations, including 3+ years of payroll management experience.
- Knowledge of human resources systems, practices, general policies, and procedures
- Proven experience with one or more payroll systems.
- Demonstrated expertise in payroll systems and procedures, including detailed knowledge of payroll regulations in Texas; experience with large payroll systems such as ADP, SAP®, etc.
- Demonstrated vendor management skills
- Expertise with HRIS systems, ideally including UltiPro and similar large systems such as SAP®, Oracle, SuccessFactors®, Workday®, etc, and including multiple modules supporting HR operations Quick question for you - click here
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office required and ability to use programs at an advanced level (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, etc.)

- HR certification preferred
- Experience managing other HR programs such as Relocation, Service Awards, Benefits, etc.

The Role
Role OverviewReporting to an HR leader, as HR Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing HRIS and payroll operations activities in a shared services environment. You will manage a team of 4-5 members, including a 2 Payroll Specialist, HRIS Specialist, and Shared Services Specialist.
Performing Your Role
You will be responsible for all activities related to Human Resources HRIS and payroll operations, leveraging information systems to ensure operational and administrative efficiency. Specific responsibilities will include:
- Leading the HR Shared Services team in Texas to align with the organization’s strategic direction.
- Fostering and maintaining positive relationships with HR functional and technical personnel.
- Leading the Payroll function to provide efficient and accurate payroll processes by:
- Developing contingency plans and back-up systems.
- Ensuring all federal and state law and regulations are followed.
- Managing outside vendors that provide critical input to the payroll system.
- Designing and delivering HRIS and payroll services, programs, procedures and processes that are value added, measurable and directly tied to company business objectives.
- Developing controls and procedures that ensure HR employee data quality that translates to accurate reporting and supports business decisions.
- Streamlining and improving processes while providing operational support to employees, managers, retirees, and HR business partners:
- Understanding and utilizing HR systems to streamline processes and achieve deliverables.
- Interacting and working closely with direct reports to identify deliverable gaps and possible solutions.
- Maintaining all compliance requirements for HR transactional processes.
- Staying up to date on trends and developments within HRIS and payroll; researching and leveraging best practices of similar and successful companies as benchmarks.
- Ensure positive relationships are maintained within the HR Shared Service Center and with external customers.
- Contributing to the strategic direction of Human Resources through active participation on the HR operations leadership team.
- Leading and participating in HRIS and payroll projects in support of the Company’s business strategy.
