The Role

Reporting to the Trucking Supervisor, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty trucks and trailers as well as a wide variety of gas-powered light vehicles and equipment. Your mission will be to ensure a strong operational fleet through effective preventative maintenance and repairs. Our heavy-duty trucks are Peterbilt and we have Cummins and Caterpillar engines. Light vehicles include pickup trucks, vans and autos.

You will work out of our Oahu shop, which also includes a truck terminal and warehouse. Because this is a new position, you will set-up your workspace and design an effective preventative maintenance program. Of course, your supervisor will support you as you get up to speed and work closely with you over time. You will perform preventative maintenance and many repairs yourself, but also work with established service vendors. Our vendors do not provide after-hours mobile assistance, so you, in conjunction with your supervisor, will also be responsible for call outs. • Analyze, inspect, test, service and repair vehicles and equipment; operate diagnostic instruments and hand, electric, and air driven tools
  • Repair brakes, engine, electrical, fuel, hydraulic, transmission, air, exhaust, and chassis
  • Provide emergency field assistance and repair to disabled equipment and vehicles
  • Cut and weld metal; fabricate parts, frames, and related items
  • Perform body repair and related work or arrange to send out

  • Assist in budget development to provide adequate inventory
  • Assist preparation of bid specifications for vehicles and equipment
  • Provide technical support to truck drivers and other staff members and contractors
  • Fill out daily summary reports, work order and repair orders
  • Work reasonable overtime as required to complete assigned tasks
  • Travel and perform work on neighbor islands as assigned
  • Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team for spill drills, releases and vehicle accidents
