The Requirements
To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the Mechanic / Welder opportunity, you will have:- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of relevant experience or trade school; 5+ years of experience as a welder, pipefitter or boilermaker is preferred.
- Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
- The ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to work on multiple projects and have good organizational skills.
- A commitment to attendance and being on time.
- Strong attention to detail.

PPE must be worn daily and will include flame retardant clothing, safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, steel toe shoes, hard hats, and respirator used when necessary for safety, which we will provide. The position also will require exposure to adverse weather conditions and hazardous environments, as well as the physical stamina to climb tanks and work long hours in the field. - Work in confined spaces such as drums, towers, and tank.
- Climb heights of 180 feet and work in high places while wearing fall protection equipment.
- Comply with all safety, health and environmental standards.
- Reach overhead.
- See, using depth perception, full field and the ability distinguish colors as required in order to fix equipment.
- Lift light, moderate and heavy objects.
The Role
Reporting to the Maintenance-Weld Shop Supervisor, you will support operations with welding and general mechanical maintenance tasks. Quick question for you - click hereYou'll start out every day with morning meetings where you will review work orders and get your assignments for the day. You will gather the documentation, drawings and specifications required to work your job and complete the assignment. We are committed to safety, and you will work closely with Operations to help them understand what we are working on and identify any hazards or special PPE required. You'll spend the rest of the day working the job and closing it out.
Your specific responsibilities will include:
- Reading and understanding technical drawings in order to perform welding and installation of piping components, structural steel, and general welding.
- Welding using gas, electric arc, helium gas welding, and Heli arc.
- Torqueing of bolts and blinding.
- Assembling tools and materials.
- Erecting scaffolding
- Maintaining housekeeping of the shop and work area.
- Participating in work and safety audits.
- Performing hot taps.
- Performing pipe fitting.
- Performing rigging.
- Understanding and taking direction of supervisors.
- Working with others.
- Communicating to others and to supervisors.
