The Requirements
To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the API Inspector opportunity, you will have:- A bachelor's degree, preferably in Petroleum Engineering or another relevant field.
- Certification to American Petroleum Institute Standards 510 and 570, with an in-depth working knowledge of standards.

- Computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel and other relevant software programs.
- The ability to develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the company's safety, environmental and industrial hygiene policies and procedures.
- A strong commitment to safety.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to write technical reports.
- Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others, sometimes under pressure.
- Strong mathematical, mechanical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A valid driver's license.
The Role
Opportunity SnapshotReporting to the Project Engineer Manager, you will be part of our Technical Services department and provide supervision to a certified NDE Technician. You'll also work closely with Engineering and the Safety organization. In addition, you'll work with the external compliance vendor, managing that relationship and helping finalize programs. We expect the transition from outsourced to in-house to take about a year.
In general, you will work in direct support of engineers to provide technical input and guidance in the inspection, repair, re-rate, and alteration of equipment at the refinery. This will include producing and presenting technically accurate documentation for use in the assessment and disposition of plant equipment.
Role Specifics
As API Inspector, you will:
- Ensure regulatory and safety compliance by:
- Assuming responsibility for staying abreast of all local, state and federal regulations pertaining to safety data sheets and hazardous materials.
- Developing or modifying compliance and safety programs.
- Implementing and ensuring that all activities are conducted in accordance with industry, regulatory and company standards and procedures.
- Adhering to company vehicle policy, in addition to following all state, county and city laws.
- Perform visual and non-destructive examination of equipment in accordance with American Petroleum Institute (API) standard 510 and/or standard 570.
- Submit technically accurate reports documenting equipment condition to your supervisor.
- Provide technical recommendations for the repair, re-rate, replacement, and/or alteration of plant equipment, as required for safe operation within stated operating parameters for durations.
- Provide technical guidance in the application of non-destructive examination techniques and procedures.
- Maintain neat and relevant files and records.
- Perform and ensure that the prover is maintained in accordance with company appearance and housekeeping standards and expectations.
- Communicate frequently and effectively with management.
- Perform other duties as required or directed.
