Position Title: Process and Instrumentation Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY The position provides technical assistance to refinery operations and will be responsible for a variety of projects and assignments that include design, modification, trouble-shooting and maintenance of refinery facilities, as well as design and specification of process instrumentation.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS • At least 3-8 years of experience in chemical engineering environment strongly preferred • Experience in petroleum refinery preferred. MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES • Monitors daily operation of assigned process plants. • Assists in the trouble-shooting of assigned process plants. • Assists in the design and modification of assigned process plants. • Assists in startup and shutdown of assigned process units including turnaround. • Assists in performing economic analysis and evaluation of current operations and proposed improvement. • Assists in a continuous improvement process of identifying and implementing ideas which will reduce operating expense or increase value of products produced. • Complies with and enforces established rules and regulations involving safety and the environment. • Daily communications with operators regarding unit performance and feedback regarding proposed new capital projects. • Provides specifications and installation guidelines for instruments and instrument systems. • Performs control valve sizing calculations, sizing & selection of orifice plates and other flow devices. • Conducts troubleshooting of refinery-wide instrumentation systems. • Assists in a continuous improvement process by identifying new information & control applications that enhance profitability and reliability. • Assists with P&ID development and updating (as-built P&IDs) to reflect field changes. • Provides technical support to the maintenance department as, including supervision of instrumentation loop checks prior to system commissioning. • Develops and maintains standardized specifications for instrument selection and installation. • Provide support to project engineering (cost estimates, systems selection, planning, organization, bid evaluations, material requisitions, scheduling, etc.). • Serves as project engineer and performs all of the functions of a project engineer for projects relating primarily to control systems, analyzer systems or electrical. Coordinates with maintenance, construction and operations personnel for all field activities. • Provides primary review of vendor/contractor instrumentation design to ensure compliance with refinery specifications and applicable safety codes. • Must be available to work during off-hours, especially for emergencies and turnarounds. • Must be able to work effectively with others at all levels and functional areas of the refinery. • Other duties as required

WORK ENVIRONMENT Full-time Works 9 hour shifts, on a 9/80 schedule. Safety glasses, earplugs, gloves, steel-toed shoes, hard hats, Nomex, and respirator used when necessary. Must be able to take call outs and work overtime as needed. Cannot be afraid of heights or of being in confined spaces such as drums, towers or tanks. Evening and after-hours work required
